Player Input Issues

Troubleshoot common player input problems in gd streamer, including connection issues, PIN problems, and layout fixes.

Can't access player input#

Make sure the player input URL is correct. Copy it fresh from the Share Links panel on your match dashboard. The URL includes the match ID -- if it's wrong, the page won't load.

Check the internet connection#

The tablet needs an active internet connection. Test by opening any website in the tablet's browser. If that works, the issue is with the link or the match.

Check your subscription#

Player input requires a Standard or Studio subscription. If you're on the free tier, the tablet link won't work.

Scores not saving#

Check the connection#

If score changes aren't syncing, the tablet may have lost its real-time connection. Try refreshing the page. A brief connection drop usually resolves itself within a few seconds.

Refresh the page#

Pull down to refresh (on mobile browsers) or tap the browser's refresh button. This re-establishes the connection and loads the latest match state.

Tip
If scores consistently fail to save, check that the match is still active on the dashboard. A deleted or corrupted match won't accept new data.

PIN not working#

Copy the PIN from the dashboard#

The match PIN is displayed in the Share Links panel on your match dashboard. Make sure the player is entering the exact PIN shown there.

Check for typos#

PINs are numeric. Double-check that the player isn't accidentally entering letters or extra spaces.

Refresh the tablet page#

If the PIN was recently changed, the tablet page may be using a cached state. Refresh the page and try the new PIN.

Players see wrong phase#

Both players need to complete their current phase before the match advances. If one player sees a different phase than the other:

  • Check if the other player has finished -- one player may still be on an earlier phase. The waiting player sees a holding screen.
  • Refresh both tablets -- in rare cases, a sync delay can cause a display mismatch. Refreshing both tablets forces them to load the current state.
Info
The phase system is sequential and shared. Both players must complete Phase 2 before either can move to Phase 3, for example.

Tablet layout broken#

Use landscape mode#

The tablet layout is designed for landscape orientation. If the layout looks cramped or elements overlap, rotate the tablet.

Use a modern browser#

gd streamer supports all modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). If you're using an older or uncommon browser, try switching to Chrome or Safari.

Check the screen size#

Very small screens (phones under 5 inches) may not display the full interface cleanly. For the best experience, use a tablet with at least a 9-inch screen.

Clear the browser cache#

If the layout looks outdated or broken after an update, clear the browser cache or open the link in an incognito/private window.
